Occupational Injury - Any injury such as a cut, fracture, sprain, amputation, etc., which result from a work accident or from a single instantaneous exposure in working environment. Conditions resulting from animal bites such as inspect or snake bites, and from one-time exposure to chemicals are considered to be injuries.
Occupational Illness - Work related abnormal medical condition or illness, which is not caused by injury at work, but was caused by workplace conditions. Injuries at work are caused by a single event in the working environment, while the occupational disease is caused by a longer exposure. Occupational diseases include acute and chronic diseases that may be caused by inhalation, absorption, ingestion, direct contact or exposure.
