In Croatia, INA d.d. owns and uses refineries and plants for production of lubricants, as well as a certain scope of necessary networks for the distribution of oil and other products. The oil is supplied to the refineries by pipelines, and other products are transported by sea, road and rail, using a certain number of product warehouses. Sales are organized within a wholesale and retail network.
INA has two fuel refineries, located in Rijeka (Urinj) and Sisak. The refinery in Rijeka is located on shore, allowing access to the port for deep-drawing ships and the pipeline system of JANAF.
The refinery’s location is suitable for market supply, not only to Croatia but also to southern parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, and other Mediterranean countries.
The Rijeka refinery annually processes 2.6– 3 million tons of oil and manufactures a certain number of petroleum products intended for the domestic and foreign markets.
The refinery in Sisak is 50 km away from Zagreb, and the Zagreb area has the highest consumption of petroleum products in the country. The refinery’s location is also suitable to supply other local markets in Croatia, as well as those in north-western Bosnia and Herzegovina, north-eastern Slovenia and western and northern Serbia.
The refinery processes domestic petroleum (produced by INA) in addition to the Russian oil imported through oil pipelines Družba 1 and Družba 2. Petroleum can also be supplied from the Mediterranean Sea by the oil pipeline of JANAF.
The refinery annually processes 2.0 – 2.2 million tons of oil and manufactures a certain number of petroleum derivates that are sold on the domestic and the neighboring export markets.
More than HRK 4 billion is invested in the refinery system development in the last few years. In Rijeka refinery three facilities within Hydrocracking complex were built - Mild hidrocracking, Hydrogen unit and Desulphurization plant (Claus) as well as numerous supporting facilities and installations. The facilities are in commercial work from May 2011. In Sisak refinery three plants have been completed: desulphurization plant, the so-called Claus the hydrodesulphurization of FCC gasoline plant and Isomerization plant. INA offers to market products that meet the requirements and specifications of the European Union.
