Donation to Croatian Mine Action Centre

    • INA continues to support Croatian Mine Action Centre with a donation of HRK 215,640.00
    • The funds were used to finance mine clearance in  45.000 m2 area in Djeletovci near Vinkovci
    • INA has been active in this area with its exploration and production projects for several decades and offers its cooperation and support to projects of significance for local community

Djeletovci, September 27, 2013 – INA presented the Croatian Mine Action Centre with a donation at its exploratory well Djeletovci 1 West in the field Privlaka near Vinkovci, thus continuing its long-standing cooperation with the Centre. Mr. Laslo Farkas-Visontai, INA’s Director of South East Europe Exploration and Production, presented the donation amounting to HRK 215,640.00 to Mr. Dubravko Krusarovski, Director of Osijek Office of Croatian Mine Action Centre, who in turn presented him with a Mine Clearance Certificate.
The funds were used to finance mine clearance in 45,000 m2 of farming area in the Municipality of Stari Jankovci near the village Djeletovci in the vicinity of Vinkovci, which was suspected of mine contamination.  “We take the problem of areas suspected of mine contamination very seriously and have extended our full support to efforts to decrease the dangerous area in recent years. We are always happy to help and support projects of significance for local communities, and we believe that our continual cooperation with the Croatian Mine Action Centre has made a substantial contribution to safety in this area”, Mr. Laslo Farkas-Visontai, IN’s Director of South East Europe Exploration and Production, said while presenting the donation.

INA is planning to make another donation by the end of the year for mine clearance in the surroundings of Sisak. Over the past three years, including this latest donation, the company has donated more than HRK 1.6 million for mine clearance in the Republic of Croatia. The biggest donations amounting to HRK 0.5 million each were made to mine clearance projects in Vukovarsko-srijemska and Sisacko-moslavacka counties. INA also won last year’s online fund raising auction in which a specially painted automobile model was sold to raise funds for mine clearance.

As many as 645 square kilometres in the Republic of Croatia are currently suspected of mine contamination, which constitutes a substantial decrease compared to previous years thanks to the numerous fund-raising campaigns for mine clearance. The area suspected of mine contamination stretches over 12 counties and 94 towns and municipalities, and it is assumed to be contaminated with approximately 70,000 mines.
