INA Group final firefighting demonstration drill held at Cernik service station

Čavle, 12 May 2026 – The INA Group held its final firefighting demonstration drill at the Cernik service station. According to the scenario involving a fire at a fuel dispensing pump, and accompanied by sirens and a coordinated response, firefighting teams extinguished the fire and carried out a rescue operation for a driver trapped inside a passenger vehicle. The drill confirmed the readiness of all participants for a fast and effective response in the event of a real incident. More than 30 people took part in the exercise.

Operating Director, Consumer Services & Retail, Zdravka Demeter Bubalo, congratulated all participants and stated:

“Safety at our service stations is based on clearly defined protocols and regular employee training. These are locations where both employees and customers are present daily, which is why all procedures are precisely standardised and focused on prevention and the safety of everyone on site.

We continuously work to minimise potential risks and to ensure that, in the event of an emergency, our teams respond quickly, in a coordinated and efficient manner.”

Speaking about the role of frontline employees, she emphasised that their daily readiness forms the foundation of INA Group’s safety system.

“Our employees at service stations face potentially hazardous and extraordinary situations daily. They are often the first to respond in the event of vehicle fires, help customers in need of urgent help, and take part in accident interventions. This drill therefore represents recognition of their everyday readiness, responsibility and professionalism.”

As part of the exercise, a scenario was simulated involving a fire at a fuel dispensing pump after a passenger vehicle, struck by a fuel tanker, collided with the pump, leaving the driver trapped inside the vehicle. The drill was organised by INA’s Health, Safety and Environment function and Consumer Services & Retail Operations, with support from Logistics. Participants included employees of the Cernik service station, the Rijeka Public Fire Brigade, the Čavle Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters from the Hrvatske ceste Tuhobić unit, staff of the Emergency Medicine Institute of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and police officers.
