Mechanical completion of the project was achieved on 25 August, while trial operation and commissioning of the equipment with the process medium will begin this week.

The installation of the turbines will further improve the energy efficiency of the refinery’s process system, contributing to increased competitiveness and profitability. The project enables more efficient use of steam, reduces steam consumption and generates energy savings, while simultaneously reducing CO₂ emissions.

The project also contributes to fulfilling INA’s obligations under the Energy Efficiency Act and represents another step in the company’s continuous efforts to improve the energy efficiency of the Rijeka Refinery.

“This project is yet another excellent example of how investments in modernization and energy efficiency can deliver tangible operational benefits while also reducing the environmental impact of our activities. I am particularly pleased that we have managed to bring the project to this stage five week ahead of the contractual deadline. This is the result of high-quality teamwork, strong coordination and effective communication among all colleagues and partners involved in its implementation, including our partner Siemens Energy”, said Goran Pleše, Operating Director of Refining and Marketing at INA.
