“Energy for the future”

  • • After Zagreb, INA is opening a tender for the submission of a conceptual design for a “green” petrol station in Split
    • INA’s self-sustainable, environmentally friendly and innovative stations will be the first of their kind in Croatia
Zagreb, 17 September 2014 –   As part of the project “Energy for the Future”, today INA initiated a Tender for the conceptual urban and architectural design for the self-sustainable petrol station at the location of the present station Split-Kman-South, which after the Zagreb “green” station, that will be constructed at the location of the present station Stupnik-East, will be the second petrol station of this kind in Croatia. The tender is conducted in cooperation with the Split Society of Architects, while the last year’s tender for the Zagreb location was conducted by INA in cooperation with the Zagreb Society of Architects. The evaluation expert committee will select the winning work by the end of November this year.

While commenting on the initiation of the tender, Mr. Darko Markotić, Executive Director for Retail at INA said the following: “We initiated the project “Energy for the Future “ at INA with the aim of constructing a self-sustainable, environmentally friendly and innovative retail site, which corresponds to our continuous commitment to business which complies with the sustainable growth principles. This implies that, in addition to the production of high-quality fuels, we are trying to introduce new technologies, as well as modern construction and energy solutions in the construction of our retail sites. We are, therefore, pleased that our green stations in Zagreb and Split, which through the use of renewable energy sources, clean technology and materials do not harm the environment, will contribute to these efforts and present the first stations of this type in Croatia.”

The project “Energy for the Future” was launched by INA in 2013, and the “green” stations which are planned for construction by this project will be completely self-sustainable through the application of alternative energy sources for the purposes of heating/cooling, ventilation and air-conditioning, use of rainwater for cleaning, flushing toilets and watering green surfaces, heating of traffic areas in order to melt the snow, use of nanotechnology on external and internal areas for the purposes of achieving high durability and self-cleaning effect, the use of LED lighting in the interior and exterior with a consumption control system and the use of recycled materials wherever possible and justified.

The tender is open until 18 November 2014.
