Terrestrial gas

(water gas, swamp gas). Gas of biogenic origin resulting from the decomposition of organic matter in shallow beds, as well as on dumps, in swamps, etc. ; usually only methane (CH4); when it comes to the surface, it fades into the atmosphere; common name for natural gas.
