    • While celebrating its 50th anniversary, INA presents works of the famous Catalan artist to Croatian culture lovers for the first time
    • The exhibition is opened for the visitors from 2 October 2014 until 8 February 2015

Zagreb, 1 October 2014 –  The exhibition “Joan Miró – masterpieces from the Maeght Foundation“ was opened last night in the Art Pavilion in Zagreb under the general sponsorship of INA and in the presence of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipović, PhD as well as numerous other dignitaries and officials. As part of the exhibition, the visitors of the Art Pavilion in Zagreb will have the opportunity to enjoy 40 paintings, sculptures, lithographs and tapestries of this famous Catalan artist.

While addressing the audience, Mr. Zoltán Áldott, President of the INA Management Board, stated “It is nice to have two such important events in the same year – priceless works of an artist whose creations marked the previous century arriving in Croatia, and at the same time INA, the largest company in Croatia, celebrating the 50th anniversary of its activity. It is indeed a great pleasure to see that the successful cooperation between INA and the Art Pavilion in Zagreb brought the works of an artist who created modern art and it is a special honour to support this exhibition which represents a crown of our investments into culture”.
Apart from being a painter, Miró, who marked the 20th century art together with Picasso, was also an exceptional sculptor, and this exhibition places an emphasis precisely on his sculptures. Although some of Miró’s works, such as graphic prints, were exhibited in Croatia in the early 1970s and late 1980s, this exhibition brings the “real” Miró to the Croatian audience, representing his original paintings, sculptures, lithographs, pottery and tapestries. Visitors will have the opportunity to follow the birth and evolution of Miró’s sculptures created in the period from the early 1960s, when he started to show a more serious interest in this form of artistic expression, until the very beginning of the 1980s.

The exhibition is opened for visitors from 2 October 2014 until 8 February 2015, and more information is available at http://www.umjetnicki-paviljon.hr/.
